As for modding the game I just installed combat tweaks recently and I like a lot of things it does. I also use a mod that adds awakening content which has a patch for combat tweaks. You can continue The Warden's story in the Dragon Age Origins: Awakening expansion, the Golems of Amgarrak DLC campaign and the Witch Hunt DLC campaign, but the Warden is not in DA2 and is only mentioned in DAI. Hawke, however, is a (non-playable) character in DAI.
